PARMA, Ohio -- The City of Parma and Holy Name High School have agreed on a 10-year contract that makes the Michael Ries Rink, located at 5000 Forestwood Drive, the home rink for Holy Name’s varsity and junior varsity hockey teams. The agreement will run for 10 hockey seasons through March 1, 2022.

The contract was signed at the rink on Friday afternoon by Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter and Holy Name President/Principal Benjamin Farmer. The signing was also attended by members of the Holy Name varsity squad and head coach Timothy Sullivan.

In the contract, the city agreed to accommodate Holy Name by constructing a new locker room and dressing room at the rink. This locker room will be constructed by Parma Senior High School’s Industrial/Vocational Education Department, which undertakes carpentry and construction projects. That department is directed by Bob Hanak and Jeff Busser.

“It’s a great situation for all concerned,” Mayor DeGeeter said. “It’s a very good facility for a fine hockey program, and it makes sense to have the Parma Senior High students do the construction work.”
