PARMA, Ohio - Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter has announced that the city’s senior center, the Donna Smallwood Activities Center, is available to those Parma residents still without power.

“It’s very hot and humid and those residents without power who are looking for a place to get some relief need a place to go,” Mayor DeGeeter said. “We’d like to offer them the Smallwood Center for the rest of the week.”

The Center, located behind City Hall and next to the Parma branch library, is open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily and offers varied, on-going activities. While the center is open to non-member residents who need to use it for relief, meals and transportation services are provided only to those 60 and older who are registered for those services. The Mayor has provided lemonade for everyone at the senior center.

Questions about the Center will be answered at 440-885-8800.

“I also encourage residents to check on their neighbors and friends, especially the elderly, and to bring them to the Senior Center if they need relief from the heat,” said Mayor DeGeeter.
