PARMA, Ohio – After an overwhelming response to the city’s annual shred event in April, City of Parma Law Director Tim Dobeck has decided to sponsor another community shred event. The Fall Shred Event is for all Parma residents and has been scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Parma Justice Center, 5555 Powers Blvd.

At the April 29 event, held in conjunction with the city’s annual Safety Fair, 14,225 pounds of paper was either recycled or shredded, an increase of nearly 70% over the previous year. The unexpected increase in participation resulted in some residents being turned away.

Law Director Dobeck has contracted with InfoShred to do the shredding on September 16, as a second shred event for Parma residents. This event is free to residents with a donation of canned or non-perishable food items or a cash donation to the Parma Hunger Center. The Parma Hunger Center collected 46 boxes of food and $361.66 cash donations at the April event.

“Shredding is a good preventative measure to combat Identity Theft,” said Law Director Dobeck.   “I hope residents are able to take advantage of this City-sponsored event.”
