PARMA, Ohio - The Parma Splash Pad, on W. Ridgewood Drive at the site of the former Ridgewood Pool, is scheduled to open Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m.  Its location at the corner of Ridge Road and W. Ridgewood Dr. puts it in the middle of the city’s town center, The Crossroads of Parma.

The project was funded through an anonymous $225,000 donation, and part of the opening ceremonies will be the unveiling of the memorial plaque and therefore, the identity of the donor. After the ribbon cutting, the splash pad will be open to the public.

“We are so excited to add this great, family-friendly activity to the recreational opportunities we already have here in Parma,” Mayor Tim DeGeeter said. “I can’t express enough my gratitude and appreciation for the incredibly generous and community-minded gesture that made this possible.”

The water playground essentially replaces Ridgewood Pool and will be open 11 a.m. until sunset/dusk seven days a week, weather permitting. (The water park will not be open in dangerous weather or if the temperature is below 70 degrees.)

The new splash pad features a zero-depth water playground with interactive and interchangeable water features that promise to provide great family experiences. The splash pad, surrounded by decorative fencing and landscaping, is fully handicapped-accessible and free to the public.

“The new water playground is one more way to build on the foundational pieces already in place to make the Crossroads of Parma a destination and true town center,” DeGeeter said.
